UOOM (Universal Opt-Out Mechanism)
A technical signal, such as Global Privacy Control, that consumers can enable once in their browser to opt out of certain profiling or sale activities. A subset of comprehensive state privacy laws tracked in XIRA expressly require controllers to honor universal opt-out signals for covered profiling opt-outs; other entries in the same catalog do not impose that requirement. Honoring UOOM is a technical implementation task, not only a policy line in a notice.
In the XIRA regulation catalog, 7 tracked frameworks flag a universal opt-out mechanism requirement for some profiling opt-outs.
